We are living in a four dimensional world composed of space and time. The ability to extract temporal information is fundamental to brain cognitive functions. In this talk, I will present two of our recent works on exploring the principles of neural information processing in the temporal domain. First, I will show how the intrinsic dynamics of a large-size network having a special structure may contribute to encode the rhythm of external inputs, supporting the notion that time can be processed distributedly in the brain. Secondly, I will show how dynamical synapses may help a neural system to predict future events, a capacity which is necessary for compensating delay in processing moving stimuli.
