This presentation discusses the complexities of the posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) diagnosis. Symptom overlap and comorbidity with other mood and anxiety disorders are two specific issues discussed. PTSD's constellation of symptoms, known as its "dysphoria" factor is discussed, as well as PTSD's dysphoria factor's relations to major depression. PTSD's dysphoric arousal model is presented, along with the dysphoric arousal factor's relations with depression and anxiety.
