Abstract: Professor Ollier-Malaterre’s research draws on psychology, management and sociology to examine how technology changes work, families, and societies. In this talk, she will first discuss how technology challenges the classic boundary between work and family domains. She will then examine how technology might transform a second important boundary, the public-private boundary. She will argue that, because technology challenges these two boundaries, people now need to conduct new forms of work to manage technology. In this regard, Professor Ollier-Malaterre will present recent conceptual developments that she and her co-authors proposed in the Annual Review of Sociology, pertaining to technology management and digital cultural capital.
